Hi, my name is Harry Finkelstein, a Canadian by choice, Israeli by the grace of God. I am the son of Polish jews who somehow survived the horrors of the Holocaust while being imprisioned by the Nazi's in the most infamous concentration (death) camp within the Third Reich, Auschwitz/Birkenau. Upon liberation at the end of the war, my family was shipped to a Displaced Persons (DP) camp outside of the town of Wolfratschausen, Germany, specifically Foehrenwald, the place of my birth. Please read more about me in my biography.
What is housed within the boundaries of this site is historically accurate information about the Holocaust. It is truly not a myth as some try to claim, but is fact. Indeed too horrible to retain in memory, but I have somehow endured the nightmarish recollections passed down to me as viewed through the eyes of my parents. It is through these remembrances and painstaken research that Mike and I are able to bring to you this site in a hope that it will educate those who happen to stumble upon our work.
Our intent here is not to influence your views of history but rather, to present educational content which we hope will be of some value to you.
My nemesis, Bi-Polar disease, has guided my life. If not for the iron will of my wife Carol, I do not believe that I would be here today. For she is indeed my saving grace.
For those who do not know, Bi-Polar, once called Manic Depression, is at times a debilitating mental disorder which is inherent. My mother suffered as I do from this demon and also my 2 sons Jason and Jeremy. I pray that their outcomes will be better than mine.
Diagnosed at the age of 50 Harry has lived with the effects of Parkinson's disease which is a neurological disorder, associated with the destruction of brain cells that produce dopamine and characterized by muscular tremor, slowing of movement, partial facial paralysis, peculiarity of gait and posture, and weakness. Please help in the fight to find a cure for this dreadful disease.

Where did the Jewish Finkelstein family come from? What is the Jewish coat of arms/family crest? When did the Finkelstein family first arrive in the United States? Where did the various branches of the family go? What is the history of the family name
The name Finkelstein is a proud symbol of ancient Jewish culture. Before the late Middle Ages, people were known only by a single name. However, as the population increased and travelers set out on their journeys, it became necessary for people to adopt a second name to identify themselves. Jewish surnames were adopted from a variety of different sources. As a Jewish surname, the name Finkelstein derives from a variety of sources. It is thought to have been an occupational name, deriving from the German word finch, which referred to the bird, and would have been given to someone who raised or sold finches. Another possible origin is from the female given name Finkle, which was a popular name in medieval Germany. It could also be an ornamental surname deriving from the Old German word finkelstein, which means diamond. Lastly, the name could be derived from the Yiddish word funk, which meant spark. The word funkenstein translates as sparkle stone, or diamond.
Jason started listening to music at the young age of 5 and started playing guitar at age 8. Inspired by a love of music and his dad's record collection, he learned to read music but also plays by ear. While in High School Jason played with the band "Wilde" and with "Since Never" in University.
Jason has also played professionally with bands such as, "The Fabulous Soul Shakers", "Goodfellas (with brother Jeremy), and "Backbeat." Jason is currently playing with Backbeat on guitar and piano. http://www.backbeatband.ca
Music is definately deep rooted in Jason's life which he shares with his wife Natasha and young son Alexander (AJ). Although being a terrific musician, when asked about his greatest accomplishment, Jason replied "My greatest accomplishment is my wife and son."
Featured artist, Sook Yin Lee will perform with special guest intrumentalists Dale Morningstar (guitar), Kristen Theriault (harp), and Jeremy Finkelstein (drums)
After years of research we have compiled an impressive array of links all dealing with the Holocaust in one form or the other. We hope you find them educational and relevant in your own studies.

~ Simon Wiesenthal ~
In Rememberance Of His Work
Simon Wiesenthal was a strong, dedicated, driven man who never forgot the horrors brought down upon his people as a whole. The death of 6 million Jews at the hands of the Nazi's compelled him to act. And through his actions, those Nazi's responsible for atrocities, not only against the Jews, but Russian, Polish, Gypsies, and on-and-on were brought to justice.
